My Walk with Christ

How Christ transformed a broken, defeated man

How Can I be Saved?

a hand raised to the sky

How can I be saved? That is the most important question a person can ask. This question deals with your eternal destiny. Everyone will die, and everyone will have eternal life afterwards. The question is not if you will have eternal life, but whether you will spend eternity with God in heaven, or seperate from God in Hell. It will be one or the other.

Every one of us sins, sometimes daily. John in his Gospel was very clear about our sin (1 John 1:18). If you think you don't sin that often, or even at all, then I recommend reading Matthew 5 - 7. In this sermon, Jesus shows us just how deep our sin goes by expanding on the laws of the Old Testament. And because of our sin, we deserve death.

But here is the good news; because God sent Jesus down to earth to die for us, and then raised him from the dead, our sins can be forgiven, and we can spend eternity living in the presence of God. How to be saved is easily possible for every human who has ever lived, who is living, and who will live one day. Being saved is a simply confessing and believing. First, you must confess that Jesus is Lord. What this signifies is that you realize that you are incapable of not sinning, and that you need Jesus Christ as your savior, the one who took your punishment so that you may be forgiven of all sins. Next you must believe that God raised him from the dead. This signifies that Jesus’ punishment on our behalf has satisfied God and our penalty has been paid.

So, if you really do believe that you are a sinner and you need Jesus Christ to step in on your behalf, and you really believe that God raised him from the dead on the third day, all you need to do is receive God’s gift of His Son and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you are ready to do this, pray a simple prayer to ask for forgiveness and for Jesus to become your Lord and Savior. You can even pray the following prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name I pray. Amen.

Now that you have make the life-changing decision, start reading the Bible to find out who Jesus is and what he did to secure your place in heaven. My recommendation is to read the New Testament starting with Matthew.

God Bless, and good luck on your new life!
